and today tops them all....
I got the news this morning.
It came in the form of a text from my boss telling me to call him...
Then came the phone call that I never dreamed would end up like this.
Oh, and to top it all off, I'm OUT OF TOWN... for work.
So, now I have to find an early flight back home, check out of my hotel that I was supposed to have until Thursday, and figure out what to do with my rental car.
And I can't stop crying...
Really, I never thought this would happen to me. I guess no job, no matter what your position, is not secure in this economy.
So today, after I find a way home, I will be spending the rest of the day on Monster and sending my resume out everywhere.
If you know anyone hiring, let me know!
In the mean time, keep Miss Franklin's song in mind for me
Thanks friends!

Oh, no. I am so sorry. I hope that something comes around the corner soon.
Shan! I am so sorry that is never fun news to get. I will keep my ears open for anything that might be good. Best of Luck finding something.
I am so sorry. And what a crappy way to find out. Hopefully something better comes along.
Dangit. First your cat and now this?!
At least you have more time to blog. Eh?
You know what job is secure in this economy? Collections.
Just throwing that out there.
That sucks! I am sooooooo sorry. That happened to me exactly one year ago. Not in a text or phone call...that's like breaking up with a text. Don't only high schoolers do that? I feel your pain. Hope you can find the silver lining.
So sorry Shannon. That stinks. I was watching Julia/Julia (whatever it's called) last night, and then I see your news this morning. Maybe you could spread your wings with your blog. You know you have a following. You should start designing and charging a good amount to help do what you do best. You're in my prayers.
Lish
Best wishes. :(
WHAT THE CRAP!?
I am SO sorry! What can I do to help??
Are you doing okay? If you need to talk, call me!
I hope that you can find another job, fast!
We'll keep you in our prayers!

Shannon I am so sorry to hear your news. Karina definitely said it best though! What type of work are you in?
When a friend of mine was questioning the stability of her job she said her choices in a bad economy would in the medical field.
Huge hugs and blessings to you!
kinda weird of your boss...
but when things ike this happen, it always seems in the end that there was a reason that you got the layoff. it might take awhile, but you will look back and see this as a blessing (i speak from much experience!). in the mean time-i will be keep you in my prayers!
this is AWFUL!! the only thing I can say is "everything happens for a reason" I know you dont want to believe that but it does. Love you good luck! you are so talented and amazing you will find something quick.
So sorry Shannon. The Lord will make a way. Better days are ahead.
Shan, I'm so sorry to hear it. I know this feel ALL TOO WELL. I've had 3 layoffs in the last year, and let me just tell you. Take a week or two to just BE! Don't try and throw yourself into another job right away. Spend some time just doing what you want to do (maybe stick it to uncle same and collect some unemployment in the meantime) and then start looking for the perfect job. Seriously, don't stress! I know the Lord will bless you and your talented little self to find an AMAZING job! I just love you! Call me if you ever need to chat!
xoxo
Oh Shan, that is so so hard. I am so sorry. Let me know if I can do anything for you.
After you're done feeling the disappointment, fear and rejection I think you should celebrate....something better is waiting for you. You never know what opportunities await that you wouldn't have seen if this hadn't happened. I know it's scary but things will work out. I will keep my eyes and ears open for you. Good Luck.
So so so so sorry about this crappy news!!!!!! Hope you get home safe and feel a little better once you are home and able to try to find something better.
Bummer to hear the news. For what its worth, you were always one of my very favorite reps when I was at VCBO. (they laid me off a year ago)
How about we get these jewelry stand classes up and running? I'll shoot you another email about it..
Oh shoot, how crappy! I am so sorry. Good luck with searching for something new!
Laid off on a work trip?!?! What the heck! I am so sorry for you :( There's so many people going through things like this, but I hope you can find something soon! Good luck girl! You will find something better.
If that isn't crappy timing I don't know what is. I'll keep my ears open!
Hang in there. You are certainly not alone. But man I'd be PISSED with the text/call/out of town gotta get home bit. Man...what a Monday. What do you do?
Oh Shan that sucks!! I'm so sorry! Maybe this is a sign that your blog and upholstery should take the forefront! If you're ever looking for advertisers let me know! I would love to be a sponsor!!
I'll be thinking about you and hoping good things come your way!
I am so sorry that happened. I got laid off a few years ago and know how upsetting & frustrating it can be. I hope everything works out for the best very soon!
i know you have probably heard it a million times, but everything happens for a reason. this "rule" became increasingly evident to me over the course of the last year. you are an incredibly confident, talented, and creative person. there just must be something better waiting just around the corner for you. Best of luck!
I am so sorry. Know that there are a lot resources out there that can help. I would suggest that before spending a lot of time on Monster, visit the nearest LDS Employment Resource Center (usually located next to Deseret Industries.) You can find the one nearest you on the website LDSJobs dot org. There are workshops, networking meetings, in fact on Thursday evening at the Bountiful Regional Center there is a huge job camp. It's place to start your networking.
I'm so sorry Shannon! That totally sucks. It sounds like it might have been a bit unexpected on your boss's end to (or else that is just crazy that he sent you on a business trip).
I have been laid off three times and every single time I went in an amazing new direction. The last time was Silver Pelican and honestly, it was the best thing that could have happened. I know it feels pretty sucky right now, but I'm positive things will turn out right side up in the end.
Oh, Shan, I'm so sorry. I hope you find something soon. That is so stressful and I can't believe that your boss did it that way... horrible. You are a strong woman and you will get through this. Love ya!
I am new to your blog and I am so sorry!!! I was just telling my husband and he doesn't think that is legal. Shouldn't HR been involved??
The same thing happened to me when I was working for a company. My day started out fine. My boss called me into his office and laid me off. No HR was in the office and my Supervisor was on conveniently on "vacation". It was upsetting but we were PCSing/moving to an Army post in VA a few months after that.
Stay strong. You can file for Unemployment Benefits next week I believe.
Take care.
Alisha
Oh Shan, i am really sorry - I am always worrying about my job and what has happened to you is my biggest fear... I hope what happens from now on will make you a stronger person :) x
Im so very sorry that this has happened to you.
(I found your blog thru Shelley S and I love it)
Good luck with job hunting.
I'm so sorry Shannon.
I don't know what your job was, but if it wasn't doing what you show on your blog, it should be!!! You are amazingly talented!!!I love your blog!! I love watching you on chanel5 5. Just ask the lord the direction you should go and he will lead you.
Oh sweet Shannon, I'm so very sorry. I so know how you feel (sadly, from personal experience). If there's anything I can do to help, let me know. If it's any consolation, I felt comfort after doing the ugly cry while praying. For some reason Heavenly Father responded to that combination.
I just found your blog and I love it. I am so sorry this has happened to you but just from your blog I can tell you are a great person and something better will come your way!
Oh Shannon!!! I'm so sorry hun. I hope and know you will find a new job very, very soon.
I'm so sorry! What is your background? My friend is trying to hire a marketing position right now. My email is alankormsby@yahoo.com if you want more info. Good luck!
