I hope you all had a wonderful New Years Eve! Is it just me, or did this years eve seem a little unstimulating? Maybe it's because I'm so pregnant and can hardly keep my eyes open after 10:30, or that it fell on a Tuesday this year (midweek Holidays totally throw me off)!
To be honest, New Years Eve hasn't really held the excitement for me that it did when I was single. Not that I don't enjoy getting together with friends and kissing my handsome husband now, but when you're single, the thrill of wondering if you're going to get a New Years kiss and meeting someone adds to the excitement! I got my first kiss on New Years Eve when I was 17. I went to a downtown celebration in Salt Lake City called First Night and I remember my dad was so worried I wouldn't get home safely (that was the year the world was supposed to crash from Y2K - remember that?) My single friends and I danced the night away down town, laughed, and joined a huge crowd outside for the countdown. That's when I saw curly haired boy. We eyed each other through the crowd, and when the clock struck midnight, he swooped in and kissed me! My friends were shocked- one minute I was standing there with them and the next I was making out with some guy I didn't know. I was quickly whisked away to chase another group of guys, and to this day I don't know curly haired boy's name and I never saw him again, but he did give me my first kiss (which wasn't that great) and a nasty case of strep throat. Oh, those were some good times. Ha ha ha!
What did you do on New Years Eve this year? Party? Go to bed early? Gather with friends and play games? Whatever you did, I hope it was just what you wanted to do! We spent the night with good friends, eating Indian take out (delicious!), and chatting with Dick Clark's New Years Eve Bash in the background. By 11:00 I was ready for bed, so we headed home. I feel asleep on the couch and woke up just in the nick of time to get a good New Years kiss as the clock struck twelve. Then we toasted with some sparkling cider, and I watched from the window as the hubs lit a big ol' firework out front (I was in my jams by then and besides, it was freezing)!
2012 brought a myriad of events in our lives- good and bad. From experiencing the heartbreak and despair of a miscarriage, to going through the adoption process, to unexpectedly learning we were pregnant once again! I'm grateful for the ups and downs we went through and for the renewed faith and hope that came from them.
I'm looking forward to 2013 and pray that it brings as much joy and happiness that we experienced this year. Happy New Year to you all!

I was "supposed" to party at home with Sophie, but then she got a better invite to a party with a friend and bailed ... no new year's eve kiss for me this year. After a quick concert at Temple Square, just some alone couch time! And sometimes that works out just fine. :)
(I saw your Christmas card at McCall's and LOVED it!!!! It's so cute - love those colors!)
Haha. I remember that! Good times!!!
